The BSc (Hons) Agri-Produce and Supply Chain Management has been developed in order to best prepare students for managing multi-disciplined teams in today’s fast-paced food manufacturing environments. Students are introduced to both the theoretical and practical aspects of management within food manufacturing sector including planning, logistics, technical support and resource management.
This FdSc programme is mapped to the FdSc Agri-Produce and Supply Chain Management standard to enable employers to utilise the apprenticeship levy to develop their management teams and provide progression opportunities for employees. This programme is also available as a stand-alone FdSc to provide access to non-levy funded or self-funded students.
This course is aimed at students who wish to pursue a career in bakery or patisserie, either within a craft or industry setting, in roles such as quality management, food marketing or new product development. It is designed to give students a fundamental understanding of food science and food safety, progressing to specialist knowledge of cereal, flour , sugar and chocolate technology, delivered in a vocational setting.

As a bakery apprentice you will be working either in a traditional craft bakery, large automated processing plant, a specialist retail shop or supermarket.
This qualification covers a wide range of craft & automated baking techniques, as well as good service & retail skills to confirm occupational competence.
Currently, the qualification is available within the Food and Drink Apprenticeship framework. However, learners may wish to achieve this qualification outside of the apprenticeship
framework where this better meets their learning and development needs or training plan and future progression goals.
This qualification offers learners the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge required to prove competence at work. It will also suit learners who are competent at specialist bakery industry activities and are looking for ways of developing their existing skills and knowledge, perhaps to support product development, advanced craft skills or
managing sales and technical operations.
This qualification is designed primarily for learners who wish to develop intermediate occupational skills and knowledge in a wide range of brewing skills to confirm occupational competence.
Currently, the qualification is available within the Food and Drink Apprenticeship framework. However, learners may wish to achieve this qualification outside of the apprenticeship framework where this better meets their learning and development needs or training plan and future progression goals.

The courses aim to provide comprehensive work-based training schemes for people wishing to develop their career in the food manufacturing industry, complemented by ‘off the job’ learning to develop the supervisors, managers and technologists of the future.

It provides advantage over the use of proficiency qualifications in food industry skills in that they develop dairy specific skills and specialist dairy subject knowledge which
support career progression in dairy industry roles.
The qualification is composed of large numbers of units of assessment which provide considerable choice for learners to select the relevant units to meet development and achievement needs.
