This qualification is tailored to those working food processing and manufacturing outlets and covers a wide
range of environments from bakeries ready meal production in small or large operations. General duties
include the production of food products to meet customer specifications – this will involve hands on
preparation of the product, maintaining food hygiene and health and safety regulations as well as cleaning,
packaging and dispatch of the finished product.
You will learn the advanced practical skills and techniques that will equip you for work in this popular and rewarding industry.
An ideal student for this course is one who is motivated and passionate about working in the bakery industry and with an interest in making and baking a wide range of cakes, breads, scones and pastries. An apprenticeship course you can complete while working in a related job role, qualifying as a degree-level food technology professional.
You study a university course alongside 30+ hours of employment in a relevant job role, with no student fees to pay. The combination of the course and the job has to meet an ‘apprenticeship standard’ – in this case the Food Industry Technical Professional standard.
The course normally takes 3 years part-time, followed by an endpoint assessment which you'll complete within 6 months.
This qualification is tailored to those working in the retail butchery environment and butcher shops.
General tasks involve greeting customers, taking orders, handling payments, serving food at the
counter, preparing displays as well as the more core butchery units which will demonstrate your
