- What does a Process Development Manager do?
A Process Development Manager leads a team of Process Technologists in launching new products into retailers through running factory trials and competing the validation of the product and equipment to make sure it is viable for both the customer and the business.
- How did you end up in this job?
Ever since being a kid I loved cooking and baking, so I took Food Technology for my GSCEs where I learned about product development. That led to me doing a degree in Food Science & Nutrition and during that course I did a placement in the process team for a Food Manufacturer, they offered me a Graduate job when I finished my degree, so the rest was history!
- What’s the best thing about your job?
I love that I get to work with lots of different people from different departments and businesses which makes it feel like a big family. It’s also fast paced which I enjoy- you never a chance to get bored in process!
- How long have you been doing your job?
I’ve been a Process Development Manager for 3 years now, before that I was a Senior Process Technologist for 5 years.
- If you could give your 16 year old self some career advice, what would it be?
Choose to do something that you love, you’ll always do better at it, and you spend most of your life at work so it’s really important that you enjoy it.
