- What does a Process Development Technologist do?
A process development technologist organises and runs factory scale trials to test out and eventually launch new products into store. They focus on food quality and food safety, and complete trials, quality tasting panels, and review data to get the new product approved.
- Give a description of a day in the life of a Process Development Technologist
Generally, every day is different, and plans can change very quickly. We may have product trials throughout the day and a list of other tasks to work through around these, including but not limited to organising and making microbiology and nutritional samples for testing, writing quality standards and taste panels. We communicate findings to both suppliers and customers, and work with all different teams on site, to product the most effective and delicious products!
- After you qualified, did it take long to find a job?
I found my job a couple of months before I received my official qualification.
- What’s the best thing about your job?
It’s fast paced, no two days are the same, and we get to work with great customers and eat delicious products!
- How long have you been doing your job?
I have been a Process Development Technologist for 11 months now, almost a year!
- Where do you see yourself in five years time?
I would like to be in a more senior position within the next five years, ideally with some more experience across some cross-functional roles.
