  • How did you end up in this job?

I really enjoyed doing Food technology as a GCSE option. I initially took this as a sign to go down a more culinary route as I enjoyed the cooking element of this subject. After working in a commercial kitchen, I realised the hours and lifestyle wasn’t for me. I then started looking on the government website for Food Technologist Apprenticeships, although I wasn’t  sure what that would entail. I applied for all the apprentice roles that came up and got the role at Coca Cola.

  • What advice would you give to someone thinking of pursuing this career?

Ask Questions. Being curious about all aspects of working in the food and drink industry, this has not only vastly expanded my knowledge of what is involved at a production site, it has also enabled me to build better relations with people all throughout the business.

  • What’s the best thing about your job?

Each day is different ! Working in quality means there are constantly new challenges and development opportunities. I am constantly learning on the job which is what keeps this role interesting and exciting.

 

 

 

 

  • If you had the chance to do it all over again, what would you do the same / differently?

I would have definitely tried to be less anxious and reserved, if I had realised that I should voice what I want out of the apprenticeship sooner, then I could have gotten more out of  that initial induction experience.
