Give a description of a day in the life of an IT Apprentice.

A typical day involves supporting team tasks, learning new technologies, shadowing specialists, and contributing to ongoing projects. I balance hands‑on IT work with apprenticeship learning, which helps me to gain exposure to different IT functions and how they operate across the Bakkavor organisation.

How did you end up in this job?

I chose this apprenticeship to gain real industry experience whilst still studying at university. I wanted a career in IT, and the rotational approach offered the chance to explore different areas and find what suits me best.

What’s the best thing about your job?

Being able to experience different departments within IT on a rotation to gain wider knowledge and exposure to a variety of specialist IT roles.

£22,500 starting salary

Where do you see yourself in five years' time?

In five years, I hope to be in a specialist IT role, ideally in an area I’ve discovered during my rotations, by contributing to larger projects and progressing professionally within Bakkavor.
