What does a Finance Apprentice do?

A finance apprentice at Greencore (formerly Bakkavor) could be placed in many varying teams, each focussing on different areas of finance. You could be in a site-based role, which has a greater focus on factory performance, or shared service role which could involve looking further into accounts payable, accounts receivable or reporting. Finally, you could be in a role in financial planning or forecasting.

Describe your job in 20-25 words.

My role is in the reporting team, where I gain hands on experience in core financial accounting processes

If you had the chance to do it all over again, what would you do the same/differently?

If I could do it again, I would make sure to have as much knowledge about the company as possible before the interview as I believe this really helped me set myself apart from the other candidates. Furthermore, I would be less worried when starting the role about not being very knowledgeable, as my manager and all my team members were really helpful

I have been in this role for 5 months.

If you could give your 16-year-old self some career advice, what would it be?

My advice would to be as much of a sponge as possible and to take on as much advice and as much work experience as possible as this really helped my application and in my interview.
