This qualification is designed for learners who are working in food operative roles in food Manufacturing environments. The choice of pathways allows learners to select units that are
most relevant to their own employment, learning and progression requirements, to include:
- The food and drink manufacturing sector
- Working safely in food manufacture
- Food safety for manufacturing
- Working effectively in food manufacture
- Product quality and improvements in food manufacture
- The use and storage of materials in food manufacture
- The qualification is a nationally regulated qualification and is assessed by multiple choice examination for each unit.
Assessment
Open distance learning and work based assessment. Your College Assessor will visit the workplace which must comply with working in a safe environment. The qualification is a nationally regulated qualification and is assessed by multiple choice examination for each unit.
On-line support is available through a virtual learning environment.
The principles of food safety for manufacturing can be achieved by the learner successfully completing the Level 2 Food Safety for Manufacturing, Level 2 Food Safety for Manufacturing (Meat & Poultry) or equivalent awards.
Entry requirements
Suitable learners of all ages are invited to join anytime of the year. It is not essential that you are employed in the industry.
All applicants will undertake a thorough training needs analysis to ensure that the correct course and levels are chosen.
Career options
The qualification is not part of the Food and Drink Apprenticeship framework. It can be used as a stepping stone to larger qualifications of this type:
- L2 Award, Certificate or Diploma for Proficiency in Food Industry Skills, Food Manufacturing Excellence, Meat & Poultry Industry Skills, Baking Industry Skills, Food Team Leading.
