Michael Robinson — Training Officer

Name: Michael Robinson
Job title: Training Officer
Employer: Dunbia
Qualification: Level 3 Education and Training, HACCP tevel 4, CMI Level 3
What does a Training Officer do?

My role is partly training and partly customer and legislation compliance. I induct new team members to the business making sure they have the skills and knowledge to begin their career with us and then support them through their training journey. The other main part to my job is keeping up with changes to the business and making sure people are trained against and updates to standard operating procedures.

Describe your job in 20-25 words.

I would say it is training new starters, supporting with their development and engaging with current staff on developing training needs.

Give a description of a day in the life of a Training Officer.

My typical day starts at about 06:00 and involves inducting new starters. This takes about 4 hours and involves running through all the key information they need to start working with us and to make sure all food safety regulations are met. After this I would normally go to the production areas and catch up with people in their early days in the business and see if they have any training needs or require any support with their jobs. The rest of the day is generally taken up working alongside the FSQ and HR team ensuring all training records and new procedures are trained out and up to date.
