- What does a Technical Graduate do?
Rotates between each technical sub function: Process, Hygiene, Quality assurance & Technical services at two sites over a 2-year programme. A tech grad rotates between the functions over gaining insight and experience into areas such as auditing ( internal & external), customer complaints, chemical validation, trials & launches. There is the flexibility to also explore other greencore sites and develop industry connections.
- Describe your job in 20-25 words.
Being a technical graduate is exciting, no two days are ever the same. Every day I develop & learn something new.
- What’s the best thing about your job?
The job is not monotonous, each day there is a new challenge or new project to work on, this keeps it engaging. I enjoy when there is a challenge that requires investigating, going through the stages of collating evidence, finding a potential route cause, and implementing corrective action. It makes me feel like a detective from a crime thriller tv show.
- If you had the chance to do it all over again, what would you do the same / differently?
I would consider going down the route of an apprenticeship. I went through the traditional route of GCSE’s, A-Levels and University. This has truly shaped me into the young professional I am today, however I also see the benefit of apprenticeships. You can work, study & earn a wage, what an amazing position to be in with 4 years’ work experience (dependant on the course you study) with little to no student debt.
- Where do you see yourself in five years’ time?
I see myself working as a technical manager in a FMCG manufacturing environment. I always look for the next step for my career progression, and I see myself managing a technical team, helping balance and harness the differences of the team in following a common goal to ensure we produce safe food of great quality.
- If you could give your 16-year-old self some career advice, what would it be?
Don’t put so much stress on yourself to have everything figured out. Sometimes it is okay to not be sure and take each day as it comes.
