What advice would you give to someone thinking of pursuing this career?
The Advice I would give to someone looking to pursue a career within SHE would be to take every training opportunity and experience that is offered as the more knowledge you have on different subjects the better equipped you can be to help people with safety issues.
What’s the best thing about your job?
The best thing about my job is that every day is different, and this makes the job extremely interesting working with different people and tackling different issues.
How long have you been doing your job?
I have been doing my job for just over a year, I came into this role straight from Sixth form! My only other previous experience of the working environment was at a fruit factory during the COVID 19 Pandemic.
Has your salary changed since then – if not do you see salary progression?
In the first year of the apprenticeship the salary is £16,000 going up to £18,000 in the second year however with the opportunity to progress further at Bakkavor into different roles I can see the potential salary Progression alongside that.
Where do you see yourself in five years time?
In 5 years time I see myself still working within the SHE industry with an environmental qualification achieved and in the process of completing my Nebosh Diploma level Qualification. This will give me the experience and qualifications to be looking at making the step to a management role.
