Describe your job in 20-25 words.

I manage all capital expenditure projects for my site. It’s basically spending a lot of the company’s money on the right things to help the business grow and improve.

After you qualified, did it take long to find a job?

I wouldn’t say it took me a long time, but it did feel longer than some of my other university friends. I did manage to get onto a graduate scheme the same year I graduated which felt good.

What’s the best thing about your job?

I get involved in all sorts of different things. One minute I could be installing a new line which is key for a product launch and the next I could be giving the building a major facelift.

What was your starting salary?

My starting salary as a graduate was £22k.

Has your salary changed since then – if not do you see salary progression?

My salary has progressed massively in the 5 years since I was a graduate. It really makes you feel like your time and effort is valued by the company. I’ve gained a lot of experience and various types and levels of training, so it’s great that this is reflected in salary progression. There’s definitely room for more in the future!
