  • Describe your job in 20-25 words.

My role is diverse and includes activities such as management of the Water treatment plant, reviewing data and at times designing parts of the process

  • How did you end up in this job?

After graduating, my first post graduate job was a lab assistant for a mining company. After 2.5 years I progressed to the operational continuous improvement team, serving 5 years across both roles. I was keen to return to a science-based role specifically involving water chemistry as this is what my dissertation in my final year at university focused on and I loved it. Whilst applying for another role at Saputo, I was approached about a process engineering role at the water processing facility on site I hadn’t seen, it ticked every box I was looking for and decided to go for it. 4 years later I’ve progressed and developed and am still loving my role and the team I work with

  • What advice would you give to someone thinking of pursuing this career?

My advice to anyone pursuing any career would be to do what interests you. If something interests you, you will naturally want to learn and develop yourself

  • What’s the best thing about your job?

I really enjoy the problem-solving aspects and the satisfaction of achieving a goal

  • If you could give your 16 year old self some career advice, what would it be?

Similar advice to the above, do what you like and are good at and you’ll be alright!

I would probably tell him to revise a bit more though!!
