- What does a Process Development Manager do? With my team, we are responsible for the launching of new products and amends to existing products within the business. This means we are upscaling of kitchen designed products to large scale manufacturing ensuring we meet the capabilities of the business and quality standards of our customers. My role means I assume overall responsibility for the Process Development function and ensuring any issues are resolved at each stage in the process. I work closely with the heads of other functions to ensure we are achieving the right quality and efficiencies at each stage so the business makes a profit and we keep our customers happy.
- What advice would you give to someone thinking of pursuing this career? Grab every opportunity out there to get involved with as many different areas of the business as possible. A big part of the Process Development role is to work with multiple teams.
- What’s the best thing about your job? I get to see products before they hit the shelf and know all the secrets behind how it’s made.
- Where do you see yourself in five years time? I would like to send a few more years in Process Development and then look to expand my technical knowledge either in Raw Materials or Compliance.
- How long have you been doing your job? 2 years – and it’s flown by! I was given the opportunity for a secondment to cover maternity leave and was successful in staying in the role.
