What does an Operational Technology Apprentice do?

Currently I am involved in supporting a technical project around the business, however mostly I am involved in on-the-job training involving networks, system integration and line engineering.

How did you end up in this job?

University was never an option for me as I believe that job experience is very important, I wanted an option which I could learn on the job, gain qualifications and be earning whilst learning.

What’s the best thing about your job?

The flexibility I have in my job role is amazing and I’m never tied to 1 specific area of work, I’m exposed to all areas of the business which allows me to be exposed to different elements. The best thing about my job is that I’m doing what I enjoy, creating and working with systems, meeting new people, and creating good working relationships.

How long have you been doing your job?

Currently I am just over 1 year in my job working for Saputo Dairy UK.

Where do you see yourself in five years’ time?

Currently I see good job progression on from my apprenticeship role and because of this I can see myself progressing through into full time positions within the OT environment into an OT engineer role.
