What does a Multi-skilled engineer apprentice do?

As an apprentice, you balance work with your theory. A block of time is spent at college and then you come to work for a large block. While I’m at work, I focus on learning the practical skills I couldn’t learn at college whilst also trying my best to assist others wherever I can.

How did you end up in this job?

I decided to apply after I saw the position posted online and I ended up getting lucky enough to get an interview and then to be set on.

What’s the best thing about your job?

The general atmosphere is very warm and friendly.

Where do you see yourself in five years time?

If all goes to plan, I will hopefully be fully qualified by then. This means I will be competent to carry out jobs by myself and will also have far more knowledge on mechanics and electronics.

If you could give your 16 year old self some career advice, what would it be?

It was only recent that I was 16 but I'd still like to tell myself not to be afraid to take the jump as I feel like there’s a big difference between me now and then.
