Ceri Morgan — HR Officer

Name: Ceri Morgan
Job title: HR Officer
Employer: Dunbia
Qualification: CIPD Level 5
  • What does a HR Officer do?
I have numerous duties in my role as a HR Officer – My main responsibilities include:
    Absence reporting,
    Investigations Disciplinaries and Grievances,
    Recruitment and Onboarding,
    VISA Renewals,
    KPI reporting,
Promoting the company at Job Fairs and at Schools,
Working alongside other departments and managers.
  • Give a description of a day in the life of a HR Officer.
My day generally begins by checking my email inbox. I keep on top of absence reporting and also ensuring ‘return to work’ checks are completed. I will then check my calendar and respond to any urgent emails or continue with any other ongoing projects I have.
I find that no 2 days are the same, one day I could be working on a project, and the next I could be involved in meetings and investigations all day.
  • How did you end up in this job?
I decided to change career. For a number of years, I worked in retail as Store Management, but developed an interest in HR. I decided to broaden my knowledge and understanding of HR and completed the CIPD Level 5 online. When I saw a HR Officer job advertised with Dunbia, I felt it was the right time to make the career move, and I was lucky enough to have a manager who employed me and has since given me opportunity to learn and develop whilst embarking on my new role.
