What does a HR Officer do?

We look after the people in a business. From recruitment and inductions to supporting probation reviews, absence reviews, investigations and disciplinaries while developing and up skilling the management team so that they can effectively carry out their roles in line with all people policies and processes.

What's the best thing about your job?

I love working with people. Working in HR, I'm constantly working with a variety of different managers and liaising between departments as well as supporting a workforce, which can be over 1000 employees at peak times of the year! So, every day is different!

How long have you been doing your job?

I've been doing my job at Dunbia since December 2024 but have also worked in a very similar role for another company since 2019.

If you could give your 16 year old self some career advice, what would it be?

Don't worry if you don't have everything figured out right now. Put yourself out there and build as much career experience as you can.

Where do you see yourself in five years time?

There are lots of opportunities for progression in Dunbia and the food industry as a whole! In five years, I hope to have gained further qualifications and possibly progressed into a HR Business Partner role, or even a HR Manager role.
