How did you end up in this job?
Whilst at University I had always been interested in the Marketing side of food and drink. I followed this up with a placement year at Del Monte in a Marketing role and then looked to expand that in the future into more of a Commercial sales-based role. The Commercial graduate scheme at Moy Park allowed me to build on my experience within Marketing whilst also exposing myself to new tasks and people.
Where do you see yourself in five years time?
I see myself in a management role in either a Commercial or Marketing setting, having had a number of years learning the business and gaining experience in a variety of roles. The Graduate Program at Moy Park should help give me the management skills needed for the future.
If you could give your 16 year old self some career advice, what would it be?
For me at 16 when you’re picking your next subjects for sixth form you need a healthy balance of subjects you’ll be good at and know you can get the right grades in… as well as picking subjects that are relevant to a career you think you may like.
How long have you been doing your job?
I joined the graduate program in September last year, so for six months so far. I spent 3 months in Marketing and Insights and then moved into one of our customer business units, in a role where I get to experience some project management, commercial sales and marketing.
What’s the best thing about your job?
Being on the graduate scheme and having the company’s support to our development, has given me the opportunity to be part of a variety of different projects all at the same time instead of having to focus on just one. Knowing that I’m able to do a full-time job and have this time as a period to develop my own skill set is something that not all companies are able to offer.
