Describe your job in 20-25 words.
Rotating around several departments to find the best suited for your skills, undergoing the day-to-day tasks of each department.
After you qualified, did it take long to find a job?
Once I had completed my degree it took around 2 months to find a job, this may not seem too long to find a graduate job however I applied for more than 40 jobs in this time frame. In one week I did receive 3 job offers although I picked the one best suited to my skills and knowledge and had better job prospects.
What’s the best thing about your job?
The best thing about my job is being able to find where I fit best within Kepak. As I go through each department I can start to evaluate if I enjoy the job and whether I have the skills to complete the day-to-day activities. I find this so beneficial as I know I will be going into a department I love rather than finding out in 5-10 years I don’t enjoy what I do and there are other options I haven’t tried.
Has your salary changed since then – if not do you see salary progression?
Yes, I have only worked within the business for 6 months but during this period my pay has risen by £3,000 due to the company wanting to invest more into the graduate scheme and keep up with competitors’ pay. I also see there is a lot of progression within the company as they encourage their staff to apply for in-house opportunities and they provide lots of additional training.
Where do you see yourself in five years’ time?
In 5 years, I would like to see I have progressed within my job role becoming a more senior role and having more knowledge and skills within the food industry.
