Arianne Mark — Food Safety and Quality Graduate Technologist

Name: Arianne Mark
Job title: Food Safety and Quality Graduate Technologist
Employer: Dunbia
Qualification: 1:1 BSc Food and Human Nutrition with Industrial Placement
Describe your job in 20-25 words.

I support the FSQ team in keeping food safe, good quality, and the whole place running smoothly – no day is the same.

How long have you been doing your job?

I have been in this role for about 7 months now, started in September 2025.

What’s the best thing about your job?

It’s a great mix of desk work and hands‑on activity, so you never really get bored. There’s a good balance between documentation, compliance, and actually being out with the product in production. You’re given real responsibility within a few months, which gives you the chance to prove yourself and show what you can do. It’s also a brilliant first step for someone coming straight from uni, as you still get that social side of meeting people across different departments, while working on projects that genuinely benefit the business and your own development. Even though you’re based in one area, you’re encouraged to explore other departments, learn how they work, and build connections that help your career.

Where do you see yourself in five years time?

In five years, I see myself growing confidently within the industry, building on the network I’ve created across sites around the UK. I hope to have progressed within the technical team into a role with real responsibility and management.

What advice would you give to someone thinking of pursuing this career?

If you’re thinking about this career, my biggest advice is to follow your curiosity. I’ve always been a foodie with a love for science, and this role is the perfect blend of both. Any experience helps, kitchens, catering, retail, anything that gets you close to food and how it’s made. But what really stands out is genuine interest.
