What does a Food Safety and Quality Graduate do?

I work alongside the rest of the Food Safety and Quality team, overall the team are responsible for ensuring all legal and customer requirements are met and products meet the quality standards required. Typical duties would include completing checks inside the factory, collecting micro samples and reviewing results, conducting internal audits and traceability exercises, dealing with customers, and assisting with audits. 

What's the best thing about your job?

Every day is different, there are constantly new challenges and things to learn, which makes each day interesting!

How did you end up in this job?

I joined Dunbia as a placement student, where I worked in the Food Safety and Quality department, I had the opportunity to work at both a Primary and Retail processing site. Once I finished my placement year I was offered a place on the graduate programme for when I finished university. 

Where do you see yourself in five years time?

In 5 years, I would like to have progressed further within the technical department and the company, having gained lots of experience and knowledge throughout the graduate programme. 

What advice would you give to someone thinking of pursuing this career?

Don't be afraid to ask questions, and take any opportunities that come your way, it's a great way to learn something new!
