What does a Finance Graduate do?

Tracking and analysing the costs associated with the lamb/beef production, managing budgets, forecasting financial performance and support management in financial decision making.

After you qualified, did it take long to find a job?

I did a placement during my third year at university at Dunbia within the admin department, whilst on placement I got an offer to return as part of the graduate program upon completion of my degree. Therefore, I started working straight out of university.

How did you end up in this job?

Through my university portal which showed a list of placement options that where available, I subsequently applied for the job by submitting my CV and got the job after a quick interview process. Once I completed the placement, I was given an offer to return as a graduate under the conditions I got the grades required in my final year of university.

What advice would you give to someone thinking of pursuing this career?

Obtain a degree within an accounting/finance related field. Familiarise yourself with the industry, through apprenticeships/internships to get hands on experience understanding the supply chain process.

Where do you see yourself in five years' time?

As a qualified CIMA accountant within a management accountant role.
