Give a description of a day in the life of a finance apprentice

As a site-based finance apprentice the role involves a lot of analysing data and creating reports on factory performance.

My day starts with creating and uploading a stock report which tells us the previous day’s stock usage I then input this data into another report which compares how much we have under or over used and then email this data to factory managers.

I then have a cream meeting where we discuss cream use in the factory and highlight overuse and wate issues and potential resolutions

The rest of the day consists of tracking projects and see how much money these projects are saving and highlighting issues if they are falling behind.

I also keep track of our staff shop earnings, counting the cash weekly and doing a P&L for its earnings.

What’s the best thing about your job?

The best thing about my job is that there is always new projects to track and different things to do daily such as costings, looking into the cost of overheads.

Started in September 2025 so 5 months as of January 2026

Where do you see yourself in five years time?

In 5 years, I see myself having completed my level 4 apprenticeship gaining my AAT qualification and be working towards an ACCA qualification and have a lot more experience and responsibilities.
