Describe your job in 20-25 words.
I look after over 300 independent businesses across a certain area to grow their accounts and increase sales.
How did you end up in this job?
Throughout college I always knew I wanted to do a degree apprenticeship. Whilst studying for my A-levels I pursued different work experiences, went to apprenticeship career fairs, and networked endlessly. Once I heard about this opportunity, I knew it was exactly what I had been hoping for and after getting through the interview stages I started my degree apprenticeship a few months after. I've never looked back since!
What advice would you give to someone thinking of pursuing your career?
Firstly, I would emphasise that degree apprenticeships are an amazing scheme and going down the sales route is a fantastic way to push yourself to be the best you can be. Although the apprenticeship application processes can be hard and competitive! Therefore, I'd encourage them to stay confident and keep smiling throughout the applications, as if you have the right mindset and dedication- you'll get there!
How long have you been doing your job?
I am currently a second year Degree Apprentice doing my second rotation on the scheme. In my first year I was a Grocery Merchandiser where I oversaw 17 stores across Manchester City Centre. I ensured the availability of CCEPs products by making sure shelves were always full, stock levels were correct, and displays were created on the shop floor to increase sales.
What's the best thing about your job?
The best thing is that every day is different! Constantly meeting new people and accelerating sales in outlets is such an exciting way to spend your working day. The cherry on top though must be the buzz you get from creating a huge sale- the feeling of knowing you've made a positive difference to someone's independent business!
