What does a Commercial graduate do?

1.Building relationships with clients (e.g., supermarkets, food service providers), 
negotiating contracts, and identifying new market opportunities.
2.Communicating with the production team to ensure timely delivery of meat products
 3.Analyzing consumer trends, pricing strategies, and competitor activity to inform business decisions.
Assisting with compliance documentation, especially around food safety, animal welfare, and export regulations. 

What advice would you give to someone thinking of pursuing this career?

1. To take every oppurtunity that is thrown your way. 
2. Ask questions constantly which leads to curiosity and helps you learn faster.
3. Be resilient  Its can be a demanding environment. Stay calm under pressure and be ready to adapt.

 How long have you been doing your job?

I have currently been doing mg job role for 14 months. 

Where do you see yourself in five years time?

"In five years, I see myself in a strategic commercial role within the meat processing industry—ideally leading a team that drives growth through innovative sales strategies and strong client relationships. I want to improve my understanding of the supply chain, customer behavior, and regulatory frameworks, and use that knowledge to help the business expand into new markets or product lines. I’m especially interested in contributing to sustainability initiatives and helping the company adapt to evolving consumer expectations."

If you could give your 16 year old self some career advice, what would it be?

Dont rush to have it all figured out. You dont need a five-year plan carved in stone.
