Zainab Abdulali — Commercial Graduate – Field Sales Representative

Name: Zainab Abdulali
Job title: Commercial Graduate – Field Sales Representative
Employer: Coca-Cola Europacific Partners (CCEP)
Qualification: 3 A- Levels, University Degree in Management with Marketing
Salary Range: £30,000
  • Describe your job in 20-25 words.

    • As a Field Sales Representative, I support small businesses, like, pubs, restaurants and convenience stores, in promoting their soft drinks range to ensure maximum profit for their business.

  • Give a description of a day in the life of a Field Sales Representative.

  • The first thing I do is log onto my sales app. From this I can see which businesses I will be visiting during the day. This is often a mix of different types of businesses like convenience shops, pubs, restaurants and Cafés. I walk into each visit with the aim to understand the customers business. After learning about their business, I can provide support to help grow the customer soft drinks revenue. For example, I can provide data on which drinks will sell best in their business or offer different promotional material to advertise the soft drinks within the business. It all depends on the customer's needs. I will visit around 10/13 customers in a day.

  • After you qualified, did it take long to find a job?

    • It took me a year after graduating to find this role. It was a long process applying to different graduate schemes, and often quite upsetting when faced with rejection. But it’s important to stay positive as the right graduate scheme will find you, just as it did for me!

  • Where do you see yourself in five years time?

    • In five years time, I hope to have established a career within marketing at CCEP, whether that be in accumulating and understanding different market data within the FMCG sector or working on brand activation in different outlets.

  • If you could give your 16 year old self some career advice, what would it be?

I would tell myself to not put so much pressure on myself, focus on the work that you’re doing at the moment and do that as best as you can! Enjoy your time at school as you won’t get that time back either!
