• How did you end up in this job?

Due to poor job security due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, I knew that there was one industry that could provide me with the security I desired, more so than other industries at that time and that was the food industry. I started at Cranswick during the Pandemic as a Sales Administrator in December 2020.

• What advice would you give to someone thinking of pursuing this career?

The skills required for the role of Commercial Executive, although qualifications are desirable, strong interpersonal skills such as self-motivation, being dependable and being able to actively work as a team, whilst seeking solutions are also very valuable for the role and for supporting the wider business.

• What’s the best thing about your job?

I work with a variety of people, both internally and externally (customers), this enables me to be involved and have a wide understanding of other departments & their responsibilities, this also enables me to drive change, not just in my department but in others.

• If you had the chance to do it all over again, what would you do the same / differently?

I would continue to stay true to my core-values in creating a positive and ‘open forum’ environment, being able to have open conversations with colleagues sparks ideas and creates a mutual respect for all. – If we were all supposed to be doing the same job, we wouldn’t be moving forward or driving change! – We are all supposed to be individual and different.

• Where do you see yourself in five years’ time?

I see myself further progressing in my career, this would be into the role of Account Manager. The role I am in currently provides support to the Account Manager and provides me with the tools and knowledge to successfully support the wider account. You are essentially a mini account manager in the making!
