Give a description of a day in the life of a Assistant Management Accountant
Every day I report on daily labour efficiency for the day before and attend a daily materials usage variance meeting to discuss any variances/ disposals. I then report on materials, sales and labour for the previous week to feed into my actual P&L for the previous week. Then I make a forecast P&L of what I think our results will be for the upcoming week. I do some adhoc reporting each week and also try to spend time on the bakery floor where possible. I also take time for study leave for my CIMA qualification.
After you qualified, did it take long to find a job?
I found this job during my 3rd year in uni, I got the job offer in the March, Graduated in the July and started in the September.
How did you end up in this job?
I found this job by accident, I needed to top up my CPD hours for my uni course, and booked myself onto the Samworth Careers Talk, which is where someone on the Finance HLA scheme talked about the opportunity within Samworth and their experience. I haven’t looked back since!
Where do you see yourself in five years time?
In 5 years time I would like to have completed my 3 year higher level apprenticeship and be a qualified accountant, hopefully progressing in my career with Samworth.
