- How did you end up in this job?
I was always unsure during school and college on what exact career path I’d like to go into. At the time I found it quite stressful as everyone around me knew what they wanted to pursue in. Physical Education and Engineering were my two top subjects that I was enjoying the most, so I decided to do some research and got applying to lots and lots of apprenticeships. After plenty of rejections, I got an interview at Bakkavor and was successful putting me here today.
- If you had the chance to do it all over again, what would you do the same / differently?
If I was to go back to mid-October, when I initially started, I would have asked a lot more questions to my colleagues as I have found out that by doing so I have learnt a whole lot quicker!
- How long have you been doing your job?
I started my job roughly around 4/5 months ago and it has absolutely flown by! I have learnt so much new information about the food and drink industry but there is plenty more to learn.
- Where do you see yourself in five years’ time?
Hopefully in 5 years’ time I will have completed my apprenticeship and well on my way with the manufacturing graduate scheme.
- If you could give your 16 year old self some career advice, what would it be?
If I was to give my 16-year-old self some career advice it would to be to not panic if you are unsure on your career. Take your time and make sure to research into options you are considering and ensure that it will be the correct option for you. Everyone works at different paces, so do not stress if you are still undecided.
- Did you buy something special with your first pay cheque?
Outside of work my favourite thing to do is play cricket, so for me it was a no brainer but to buy myself a top-quality cricket bat. (For those interested I have a Millichamp and Hall F100 bat
