This qualification is designed to develop advanced occupational skills & knowledge in a wide range of supervisory & monitoring skills in food processing, food service & retail.
It is too small for inclusion within the Food and Drink Apprenticeship framework. It is ideal for learners who carry out routine workplace tasks and who may use this qualification as a stepping stone to larger qualifications of this type.

This qualification is designed primarily for learners in the meat and poultry industry who wish to develop advanced skills and knowledge required to confirm occupational competence at work.

The qualification provides choice in a wide range of control, monitoring and management of processing operations or distribution, service and retail operations to confirm occupational competence.

This qualification is tailored to those working food processing and manufacturing outlets and covers a wide range of environments from bakeries ready meal production in small or large operations. General duties include the production of food products to meet customer specifications – this will involve hands on preparation of the product, maintaining food hygiene and health and safety regulations as well as cleaning, packaging and dispatch of the finished product.

This qualification is designed primarily for learners in the fish and shellfish industry who wish to develop intermediate skills and knowledge required to confirm occupational
competence at work.

The qualification provides choice in a wide range of automated or manual processing techniques or distribution, service and retail skills to confirm occupational competence.

This qualification is designed primarily for learners who wish to develop intermediate occupational skills and knowledge in a wide range of brewing skills to confirm occupational competence.
Currently, the qualification is available within the Food and Drink Apprenticeship framework. However, learners may wish to achieve this qualification outside of the apprenticeship framework where this better meets their learning and development needs or training plan and future progression goals.

The University delivers a Higher Apprenticeship in Food Manufacturing supported by Cogent, the Sector Skills Council for the Science and Technology based industries.

As a bakery apprentice you will be working either in a traditional craft bakery, large automated processing plant, a specialist retail shop or supermarket.
