What does a Manufacturing Manager Apprentice do?

A Manufacturing Manager Apprentice, works across different departments within a business and undertakes various roles over a period of time. This allows for me to build up a bank of knowledge about how the business operates, and when my apprenticeship is over, hopefully apply this knowledge into a more senior, managerial role.

What advice would you give to someone thinking of pursuing this career?

I would tell them to go for it! It is an incredibly interesting industry to work in, and you will learn something new everyday. Especially in my role, the day to day work is so varied and you never find yourself doing the same thing.

What’s the best thing about your job?

For me, the best part of my job is how varied it is. I love the fact that in my current role, I can work with various different teams , which allows me to learn a vast amount new skills, and apply those skills directly into work.

Where do you see yourself in five years time?

I see myself still working in this, however I hope to have pushed on and taken on a role with more responsibilities. I hope to keep on expanding my knowledge in different business areas, and really strive towards my career goals.

If you could give your 16 year old self some career advice, what would it be?

I would tell my 16 year old self to keep working hard, as if you put the hard work in, it certainly pays off. I would also tell myself that university is not the only option after school/ college. I think it is important to keep an open mind about apprenticeship opportunities as they are a great way to learn new skills, and earn while doing so.
