What advice would you give to someone thinking of pursuing this career in manufacturing?

Try to obtain good general knowledge around best practice in manufacturing (safety, lean, KPI’s) this is a great foundation from which you can build your knowledge of the role. The broader the area you look at the more you begin to understand the details of why we undertake certain processes and what benefits they have to the business.

The variety of tasks and people that I encounter, apprenticeships are excellent platforms to develop a vast range of knowledge, skills and behaviours.

Don’t panic about walking straight into a defined career path, every road you wander down will expose you to new experiences and learning opportunities.
