What's the progamme?
Our Technical programme will initially focus on key roles including specifications, raw materials, process improvement and quality assurance to give you a broad appreciation of these specialisms, before developing you specifically towards leadership roles in quality assurance. Your expertise will be developed to a great depth as you study the degree programme, preparing you for a career in food.
4 year degree programme with Nottingham Trent University, with study aligned to real work, so you will earn as you learn and not accumulate university debt
A range of factory and office-based roles across Quality Assurance, Raw Materials or Process Technologists and Specifications Analysts, leading through to Quality Assurance Supervisor and Manager roles
Midlands, North West or London. You will need to be willing to be nationally mobile across the period of the programme.
What do you need?
You will need, as a minimum, Level 2 English, Maths and ICT to study this programme, along with a minimum 3 A-Levels at grade C or above. Your A-Levels need to include at least one science or food technology. We will also look at equivalent qualifications or experience – so please ensure you provide as much detail about your predicted grades or work experience as possible when you apply!
Potential career paths
Quality Assurance Auditor
Specification Technologists ensure that all customer specifications, pack copies and artwork are accurately set up so that key customer documentation is produced in line with our critical path timescales and product launch deadlines.
Process Technologists carry out all relevant manufacturing projects in order to deliver process development and line trials successfully.
You will lead a quality assurance team to verify that all materials, including finished products, are safe and conform to all relevant specification, legislation and customer requirements.
As a QA Manager you’ll lead and co-ordinate the work of the quality assurance teams to deliver (and provide service improvement) in line with operational day to day needs; specifically with regards to safety, quality, legality and customer requirements.
To help provide you with the very best skills and management experience, you’ll be part of our Line Manager Framework that supports all of our line managers to learn new and relevant skills, at your own pace. Your development will be supported to meet critical learning experiences over the course of the programme.

This programme is supported by a Level 6 Food Industry Technical Professional Degree qualification.
