Operations Trainee Manager Programme - Greencore Group

What's the programme?

Our Operations programme will give you broad exposure to a breadth of activity in our factories; by getting you into the reality of food production, you will start your journey with a great appreciation of the work that goes into physically producing Great Food, which will make you a rounded and appreciative Operations leader as you progress in your development.

Program Start

September 2018.

Duration

4 year degree programme with Nottingham Trent University, with study aligned to real work, so you will earn as you learn and not accumulate university debt.

Levels

Factory-based roles, leading to first-line supervisors and through to Shift Management.

Location

Opportunities will be available in Warrington, Crosby, Worksop, Selby, Sheffield and sites in London. You will need to be willing to be nationally mobile across the period of the programme.

Potential career paths

Factory-based Roles:

  • A whole range of roles to give you a breadth of familiarity with the very front-end of food production in your site during your first months.

  • You’ll get a grounding in our fundamental principles of food safety and health and safety amongst other key compliance activity.

Front Line Leader:

  • Here you will get your first taste of leading a small number of colleagues.

  • You will manage the consistent application of processes within your area or production line, to ensure products are prepared or manufactured to agreed standards and production plans.

Production Supervisor:

  • Your leadership steps up a gear to cover a zone of activities, processes and production lines.

  • Your skills in team communication, production monitoring, equipment effectiveness and other areas will grow and you’ll get involved in identifying trends in performance and actively promoting our safety culture.

Shift Manager:

  • You’ll be leading people across a whole shift, co-ordinating and prioritising activity to meet production standards and food safety requirements, identifying opportunities to make improvements in quality, performance and profit.

  • Amongst other things, you’ll forecast and control the labour requirements and monitor and review your teams’ capability, keeping them focused on their key objectives and develop them to maximise their potential.

What do you need?

You will need, as a minimum, Level 2 English, Maths and ICT to study this programme, along with a minimum 3 A-Levels at grade C or above OR equivalent qualifications or experience – ensure you provide as much detail about your predicted grades or work experience as possible when you apply.

SKILLS

To help provide you with the very best skills and management experience, you’ll be part of our Line Manager Framework that supports all of our line managers to learn new and relevant skills, at your own pace. Your development will be supported to meet critical learning experiences over the course of the programme.

We understand that being a line manager is a challenging, yet rewarding job, and we want to help you to develop, not just your academic knowledge, but also great skills that will help you to find your own management style as well as key business knowledge.

EDUCATION

This programme is supported by a Level 6 Chartered Management Degree qualification.
