How would you feel if you went into a supermarket, and there on the shelf was a product that you helped develop?
Development isn’t just cooking products in the kitchen – it is getting to know the detail of each raw ingredient that goes into our products, developing ideas/recipes that turn into products that consumers want to buy, and identifying where there are gaps in the market for new concepts. Development at Bakkavor is crucial to ensuring that we stay ahead of the market. Working in an office and the kitchens, this role is mainly about innovation, developing new or refreshing existing products, exploring ingredients and designing packaging.
Our Higher Apprenticeship in Food Development is an ideal opportunity if you are a young ‘foodie’ with an interest in all foods and how they are made. It will give you a clear understanding of the key development purpose and how it links to the manufacturing of our products. From day one you will receive the support you need to grow in your career. Apprenticeships are usually as Development Technologists working within the New Product Development (NPD) team on idea generation, recipe development, new product trials and production launches. At the end of your apprenticeship & qualification, you will be at the level of a Development Technologist, and your career aspirations may include Senior Technologist or NPD Manager to name a few
Best of all, upon completing this two year apprenticeship you will be guaranteed a full-time role with Bakkavor.
What do you need?
Do you have a passion for learning and 5 GCSEs or equivalent (actual or predicted) at grades 9 – 4 (or A*- C if received in 2017 or previous), which must include English and Maths?
You must be willing to learn not only in the workplace but also at college where you will study a relevant qualification.
