What's the programme?
Our Commercial programme will focus on providing you with a breadth of experience in the initial 2-3 years across Sales, Marketing and Product Development. This will help you to appreciate the full functionality of Commercial and to work out which area you’d want to focus on in your career.
4 year degree programme with Nottingham Trent University, with study aligned to real work, so you will earn as you learn and not accumulate university debt.
With some exposure to our factory environment, we will rotate through Marketing, Sales and Product Development roles, leading through to Category / Business Account Manager or Product Development Manager roles.
Opportunities will be available in Worksop, Sheffield and Selby. You will need to be willing to be nationally mobile across the period of the programme.
Potential Career paths
Rotations (2-3 years)
Marketing Analyst - You’ll collate and analyse customer and consumer data into reports which inform how we generate actionable insight, as well as how we will execute marketing initiatives.
Business Executive (Sales) - This is a key support role for our Business Account Managers in day-to-day management of our customer accounts, and helping us to assure the delivery of sustained profitable growth for a specific customer base.
Development Technologist - Here you’ll support the Product Development team in the creative inspiration and development of new products, now and in the future, for our customers with a range of activity in our kitchens.
As a Category Manager, you will follow the category management process in Greencore and utilise customer and category insight to make strategic recommendations with action plans to improve category performance.
Critically, you’ll be a trusted advisor to our customer base, managing those ongoing relationships – meanwhile, you’ll build extensive networks internally and into store operations to speed decision-making and implement actions.
Business Account Manager
You’ll be expected to develop and deliver sustained profitable growth for a specific customer base, through robust customer account planning, promotional plans.
This cannot be done without building market and competitor knowledge, to help us maintain close working relationships with our key customers and meet both their needs – and bringing that into our Product Development and manufacturing activities on site.
Product Development Manager
As a PD Manager you’ll deliver product development in line with critical paths to meet the customer plan.
You’ll oversee our products from concept to process handover to Operations; leading feasibility meetings, inputting your product knowledge and customer insight to our plans, introducing and refining new concepts to maximise profitability and quality, and have an important role in maintaining close working relationships with customers whilst developing the capability of your team.
What do you need?
You will need, as a minimum, Level 2 English, Maths and ICT to study this programme, along with a minimum 3 A-Levels at grade C or above OR equivalent qualifications or experience – ensure you provide as much detail about your predicted grades or work experience as possible when you apply.
To help provide you with the very best skills and management experience, you’ll be part of our Line Manager Framework that supports all of our line managers to learn new and relevant skills, at your own pace. Your development will be supported to meet actual critical learning experiences over the course of the programme.
Additionally, Greencore runs a commercial development program for its colleagues within the function to provide a solid Commercial foundation, building to more advanced skills as you progress.

This programme is supported by a Level 6 Chartered Management Degree qualification.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT & CULTURE
When they’re at base, our Sales and Marketing teams work predominantly in open plan office spaces with their peers, as well as spending time with their customers at their headquarters or stores.
Our Product Development teams do a lot of their development work at sites, in our PD kitchen facilities, with some opportunities to visit customers also depending on their area of focus. So, the environments will vary as you move through the programme.
