Our Dairy Technology Foundation Degree is backed by the whole dairy industry – with the aim of equipping tomorrow’s workforce with the specific skills they need. Making you a great asset to your employer, and giving you a real advantage as you progress in the fulfilling, prosperous and challenging career that’s ahead of you.
The idea behind the qualification is to go way beyond the fundamentals of dairy production and inspire graduates to be leaders and innovators with the motivation and confidence to elevate the industry to new heights on a global stage.
If you have a passion for food technology, a desire to learn and want an interesting and rewarding career, our Dairy Technology Foundation Degree will give you an advantage in the industry and equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to quickly progress in your chosen field.
This is a Higher Education qualification so you’ll need C or above in GCSE English language and maths, as well as an A-Level. You can also apply if you have equivalent qualifications or already have dairy industry experience – we’re looking for the best candidates, whatever your background.
Earn while you learn
Throughout your Foundation Degree you’ll earn a competitive salary and have no student loans to pay back after graduation. Then, with a world-class qualification on your CV, you’ll have just the right mix of skills and experience that are in short supply in the dairy industry today.
Your 3-year Foundation Degree will be delivered by our ‘Dairy Centre of Excellence’, Reaseheath College – where you’ll receive world-class training, an in-depth understanding of processes and theory and hands-on experience at their state of the art dairy processing facility. You’ll attend Reaseheath for 13 weeks in year 1, 18 weeks in year 2 and 11 weeks in year 3 – and when you’re not in college you’ll be following a structured work and training programme with your employer.
On the way to achieving your Foundation Degree you’ll also earn a Level 4 Award in Food Safety for Manufacturing, a Level 3 Award in HACCP for Food Manufacturing and a Level 3 Award in Health and Safety. So as well as having the skills and experience you’ll need to fast-track your career, you’ll also have a string of extra qualifications on your CV. Plus, you’ll be a member of the industry’s professional association (Society of Dairy Technology) for the duration of your studies.
Officially recognised as the National Skills Academy’s Centre of Excellence for Dairy Training, Reaseheath is set in 200 hectares of parkland, lakes, woodland and fields – and includes an on-campus dining hall, coffee shop and gym. Its newly-built halls of residence can accommodate students in en-suite rooms with access to shared kitchen areas.
