What does an Account Executive do?
An Account Executive assists the account manager in everything and anything needed to run the account and support the customer. The twist on my role is that I do this from within the retailer’s head office as an implant.
After you qualified, did it take long to find a job?
I applied for the graduate scheme in the October after graduating and by the 16th of January I was pulling into the carpark for my first day at ABP.
How did you end up in this job?
Throughout school I was unsure which career path to go down. I took Food at A-level and really enjoyed it however I went on to study Geography at University. When I came out of university jobs were scarce and I still didn’t know the direction I wished to go in. The ABP graduate scheme gave me the chance to try different sectors of a fast paced industry before settling on account management in commercial.
What’s the best thing about your job?
The best thing about my job is being able to follow a product from conception straight through to seeing it on the shelves in store. I get to oversee the initial need for the product, its development then real life application in a factory, until finally assisting to manage a smooth launch. The cherry on the cake is analysing the products success.
Did you buy something special with your first pay cheque?
I bought a spontaneous train ticket on the first payday weekend to London for a reunion with all my friends!
